Proactive pondering

I do not want to assume the worst of the future, but today’s news story about Swine Flu … not just in Hershey, but contaminated rooms in Hershey Middle School, made me ponder. Our school has a strong focus on using technology in the classroom. How many fingers (from different sets of hands) touch each of the keyboards each day?

Is there a practical way to disinfect the minis without damaging them? Sherry was always tons of hand sanitizers, but the wetness is not necessarily good for a keybord.

There are also hidden dangers of hand sanitizer. Two years ago, a bottle that was in the sunlight for too long built up enough pressure to ‘explode’ … or at least enough pressure to force the hand pump to fly off. Poor Jenny was hit in the back of her head in the middle of class. Worse, I almost reprimanded her for the disruption. Luckily there was no real damage and now we laugh about the incident.
