Moodle Meet Ning

I have joined other Nings in the past … but the Moodle Meet Ning is the one I have found the most valuable so far, especially the forum.

Plugins for Moodle

  • Nano Gong – record voice and edit
  • Assignment Block – teacher sees assessments that still need to be graded
  • Mahara – ePortfolio
  • Game Module – very similar to other easy to create games online, however this would be done directly through Moodle. However, the graphics are much better on Quia, but that is part of the reason you have to pay a yearly membership fee.

Another interesting conversation on the forum was the future of Moodle on mobile devices. There is a possibility of a Moodle App. Since most secondary students are physically connected to their mobile devices 25/7 – it would be nice if they had the option of connecting to school related topics, if they so decided. There are many times I was stuck in a waiting room, bored enough I would have happily worked on additional practice activities for my class. I hope the Moodle App also allows for teachers to access/edit.

Tutorials: just a few examples are embedding videos, uploading documents, and adding assignments for the students.
